Sharing My Story

There's a lot about me that you don't know.
I haven't shared much about my past or my upbringing here on the blog. Maybe I wasn't ready, maybe I just decided to omit that part until need be.

While at Blissdom I met this lady. I walked into the room for a session and I immediately was drawn to her table. Ashley was the only one sitting there.
As the session started and continued on we shared our stories and listened to each other.
For the first time, I told my story. I wasn't ashamed and I knew that I finally had a strength to share it in the hopes that someone else would relate.

What I received in return made me speechless.

These women who I have never met before completely accepted me and offered a sincere smile and sincere comments.

I walked away from that session with more than what the session itself offered.

While talking to Ashley at the end I asked about her POTSC badge (maybe it was a sticker? ) and she shared what it was.
A few weeks after Blissdom was over I joined the movement. I also joined the Grace Mob.

After joining, they reached out to me to write a blog post for their blog.

So Ladies, today I am sharing my story.

You can go here to read it.

What's your story?

Thank you for sharing your story. I know how hard it can be to open yourself up and allow yourself to be vulnerable on your blog- so I applaud you for that. :) It's beautiful to watch you with your daughter and to see you live out your second chance. Isn't grace amazing?!

oh Sonja!!! You are amazing girl!!! I am so happy for you sharing your story! Everyone has a story but not everyone is brave enough to share theirs! You are touching more lives than you know and K is very blessed to have you as a Mommy! Thank GOD for grace! I can not wait to continue to see how he blesses you and K and how the rest of your story continues ... Makes me happy to think of it! I am definitely considering sharing my story- in fact on my dad's bday yesterday I wanted to share how he died but I got scared... and thought maybe that was too much for some readers. Anyways- longest comment ever- but YOU. GO. GIRL!!!!! :)

I'm so glad you decided to share your story. I love getting to know you better! You're such a brave, strong woman and you're being a great mom to K. If you ever want to talk, I am here. I know what it is like to grow up with an alcoholic parent. I fortunately still have mine, but it was never easy growing up around all of that. Thinking of you friend! xoxo

Hi....my name is Sonja also....I have never commented before but felt I should today. Did you know the the name Sonja means wisdom? My parents named me praying I would be a woman of wisdom.....I don't know the history of why you were named Sonja but I can tell that you do have wisdom. You are choosing to draw a line in the sand and choosing to give your daughter a different life. You are a wise woman....hold on to that, God loves you bunches! Thank you for sharing.
